About the School of Business Sciences
Welcome to the Wits School of Business Sciences, situated within the Faculty of Commerce, Law and Management at the University of the Witwatersrand. The School brings together prospective and current students, alumni, academics, researchers, industry partners and other stakeholders through a shared commitment to advancing business knowledge and practice.

Our graduates are prepared to lead through the knowledge they have developed - whether working within established organisations, contributing to public and social institutions, or building enterprises of their own.
The Wits School of Business Sciences comprises four academic divisions, each providing specialist teaching, research and professional development:
- The Marketing Division, which explores consumer behaviour, branding, strategic marketing, communication and the evolving relationship between organisations, markets and society.
- The Human Resource Management and Management Division, which develops expertise in people, organisations, leadership, strategy, entrepreneurship and the changing world of work.
- The Information Systems Division, which examines how information, digital technologies and innovation can support organisations, transform industries and address contemporary business challenges.
- The Insurance and Risk Management Division, which develops specialist knowledge in risk, insurance and related financial disciplines that support informed decision-making in uncertain environments.
Together, these divisions offer undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications, part-time study opportunities and specialised short courses. Our programmes support students throughout their academic and professional journeys - from those beginning their university studies to experienced professionals seeking to deepen their expertise or respond to emerging developments in their fields.
