The CoLab Studio is the collaborative and creative hub of the Learning Commons - a space where ideas, innovation, and community come together. Designed to foster connection and intellectual engagement, the studio creates opportunities for students and staff to participate in meaningful academic and creative experiences beyond the traditional classroom.
The studio coordinates a range of events and initiatives that encourage dialogue, collaboration, and critical engagement with contemporary issues in higher education and digital culture. These include writing retreats, AI awareness seminars, critical reading marathons, digital storytelling festivals, and interdisciplinary literacy conversations that bring together students, academics, and broader communities within and beyond the Wits School of Education.
Alongside these events, the CoLab Studio develops targeted academic campaigns and thematic learning initiatives that respond to emerging student needs and institutional priorities. The studio also celebrates the intellectual and creative work of the Wits community by showcasing student and staff research, projects, and academic outputs through exhibitions, multimedia platforms, and collaborative events.
Working closely with internal and external partners, the CoLab Studio is more than a support space - it is a vibrant environment where scholarship, creativity, innovation, and community engagement thrive together.
