The University of the Witwatersrand is pleased to invite you to participate in a stage-crossing ceremony to be hosted on Saturday, 23 April 2022.
We understand that attending a graduation ceremony is a major life event and that like many other graduands, you were disappointed at not being able to attend a live, in-person event, as a result of the restrictions imposed due to COVID-19 regulations. Universities across South Africa and around the world, including Wits, conferred degrees, diplomas, and certificates in absentia during virtual graduation ceremonies.
However, given the lowering of lockdown levels, we would like to provide you and other graduands who were unable to participate in in-person graduation ceremonies in December 2021 due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the opportunity to experience a stage-crossing event to celebrate your graduation.
The ceremony will be hosted for health and safety reasons in an open-air, well-ventilated marquee on the Library Lawns. The event will be conducted in line with government regulations and Wits’ COVID-19 protocols. Each graduand will be permitted to bring along two guests only. Children will not be allowed.
We would like to enquire if you wish to attend a stage-crossing ceremony which will be scheduled in two dedicated sessions as follows:

More information will be made available at https://www.wits.ac.za/graduations/ once we have ascertained how many graduates wish to participate in the stage-crossing ceremonies.
Graduands who for religious reasons will not be able to attend must please inform the Examinations and Graduations Office (EGO) in order for you to make arrangements to be allocated to a planned stage crossing ceremony in July 2022.
