Learning and Teaching in the Faculty of Commerce, Law, and Management

CLM Teaching and Learning Centre

The CLM Teaching and Learning Centre houses the offices of the Centre Head, the CLM Online Learning and Teaching unit (COLT), the faculty’s student success and support unit known as the Road to Success Programme (RSP), and the faculty’s Postgraduate Writing Unit.

Apart from the work done by these units, the CLM T&L Centre concerns itself with matters related to curriculum design, assessment practices and methods, peer review, the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL), and the enhancement of academics as university teachers. The Centre drives the implementation of faculty and institutional teaching-and-learning-related frameworks and plans, like the Wits Learning and Teaching Plan 2020 to 2024, the Institutional Framework for Enhancing Student Success, and the Wits Framework for the Continuous Professional Learning of Academics as University Teachers.

Staff from the Centre engage with institutional stakeholders like the Centre for Learning, Teaching, and Development, the Senate Teaching and Learning Committee, the Counselling and Careers Development Unit, numerous student affairs entities, and the institutional Educational Technologies Committee (among others), to represent CLM and serve as a link between these institutional structures and the faculty. At the same time, CLM Teaching and Learning Centre staff provide support and guidance to students and staff from within the faculty’s six schools.
