Postgraduate Studies

Over and above the postgraduate courses offered, we also recognise individuals with vast working experience in industry, and who want to pursue postgraduate studies with us.

Options for Doctoral (PhD), Master's (M.Sc and M.Eng) and Postgraduate Diploma (P.G.Dip.) studies are available in the school.

To qualify for Doctoral studies, applicants must have completed an M.Sc with a research component of more than 30%. Applicants with an M.Tech will need to apply for the M.Sc. program. Applicants must approach a supervisor within the school and agree on a topic prior to making their application.

To qualify for M.Sc or M.Eng applicants should have a B.Sc, B.Eng or P.G.Dip. in Engineering in a relevant field with an average of 65% for the final year of study. The 65% requirement may be waived if the applicant has more than 3 years of relevant experience.

Applicants must approach a supervisor within the school and agree on a topic prior to making an application (this is not a requirement for the M.Eng in welding).

To qualify for P.G.Dip studies applicants should have a B.Tech or B.Sc in a relevant field with an average of at least 65% for the final year of study. The 65% requirement may be waived if the applicant has more than 3 years of relevant experience.

Differently Qualified Applicants may be accepted in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of the school's Postgraduate committee.

Unfortunately, the PGDip and M.Sc in oil and gas will not be available in 2024.
