Dear Peter,

How thrilled I was to get your birthday card. It evoked so many memories so I decided to ?seize the day? and tell you how this 80 years pensioner spent her life.

I spent my early life in Benoni on new Modder Gold Mine and attended Benoni High. After 5 years there, I matriculated in 1947. Then in 1948, aged 16 I went to Wits and majored in History and Psychology. They were great years filled with interesting people. One of my great friends was Manny Brown who was a leading figure in fighting the apartheid regime.

When qualified I taught at Boksburg High for four years and retired to have a family (3 daughters) my husband is 95 ?hale and hearty and a great to have, still as a constant companion. In 1996 I joined Bonaero Park Primary School; it was a unique school with 93% immigrants from all over the world. The pupils were the children of Atlas Aircraft Corporation. I became Principal in 1991 having loved every minute of an intensely interesting job with oh so special pupils.

We came to Cape Town in 1996 and now live in a beautiful Retirement Village. My maiden name was Pat Nicholl. I would love to hear from old pals.

Pat Watters.
