Dr Lisa Sacks

Dr Lisa Sacks (BSc 1981, MBBCh 1986, MMed 1997) is a consultant plastic surgeon working and living in Bristol, UK. Prior to moving abroad, Lisa undertook an 8-month elective in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil with renowned plastic surgeon, Professor Ivo Pitanguy and a year?s breast surgery fellowship in Brussels with Professor Madeleine Lejour. In the UK, she joined the National Health Service for some eight years, and then moved into private practice about four years ago. ?Everyday, I am grateful for the wonderful and outstanding training I received at Wits,? she says. Lisa enjoys sculpting in her spare time and made portrait busts of alumni Professors Tobias, Mitchell, Laburn, Bothwell, Myburgh, Feldman and Is cson while a medical student, and participated in the annual medical arts exhibition. ?More recently I have done a portrait bust of Professor Averil Mansfield, the first female professor of surgery in the UK,? says Lisa. ?This is the first portrait of a woman surgeon to be housed in the Royal College of Surgeons in London.? Lisa is married with four children and one grandchild.
