NRF funding

The DSTI-NRF Postgraduate Student Funding Call for new applications 2026 (for Masters and Doctoral studies only) as well as Masters and Doctoral EXTENSION SUPPORT is now open.

This year the CoE-MaSS requires all applicants to submit a notification form to us, in order for us to track the progress of your application.

Please complete this form by 20 June 2025. The form can be accessed here.

The CoE-MaSS will also be presenting a seminar on Friday 06 June, explaining the NRF application process. Please make certain that you consult with your supervisor/prospective supervisor before submitting any applications for funding.

Please note that submitting this notification to the Centre does NOT form part of the DSTI-NRF Application Process, but is a requirement for CoE-MaSS.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most importantly, you will need to send a COPY of your application, which you can download before “submitting” on the NRF portal, to coe-mass@wits.ac.za.
Should we not receive this, your application will not be considered by CoE-MaSS.

The NRF submission deadline is 04 July 2025. Please do not wait for this deadline to submit, rather submit it early!
