General Paediatric surgical ward of 32 beds. The ward provides beds for: Paediatric General Surgery and Urology; Maxillofacial Surgery and Gynaecology. Patients are admitted under the care of the above disciplines in an age range from birth to ten years. High Care beds are limited in number. Out-patients do not pass through this ward.

This unit provides a 24 hr, 365 day service.
- General Paediatric: /-200 admissions per month
- Procedures: approximately 140 per month
- Outpatients: approximately 400 per month
- The Neonatal Surgical Unit was opened in 1991, it has 6 high care beds, and its own operation theatre
- Intensive Care beds are arranged with the Paediatric Intensivists or the main Intensive Care Unit if
required. Neonatal cases requiring ventilation are managed in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit - Emergency/Casualty services: The unit provides a twenty-four hour ward cover delivered by medical
officers. A Paediatric Surgery Admissions Ward of ten beds admits emergency cases for observation and
triage. - The Unit covers all Paediatric Surgical problems from birth to ten years. This includes: Neonatal surgery,
Paediatric Urology, Paediatric Thoracic Surgery, Paediatric Neurosurgery (shunt and myelomeningocoeles)
and Oncology - The Unit is also responsible for the Paediatric Burns Unit. Between 200-300 burnt patients are treated per
year
