Division of Developmental Paediatrics

The vision of the Division of Developmental Paediatrics is for all children in the Southern Gauteng region to thrive and to reach their developmental potential.

We aim not only to provide holistic care to children with developmental disabilities and their families, but also to promote and support child development and the prevention of these disabilities.

This care encompasses diagnosis, investigations, therapeutic interventions, ongoing assessment and behavioural management and referral to support services; as well as our roles in advocacy and training of health professionals.

 We use a multidisciplinary approach and work closely with the Dept. of Education, Paediatric Neurology, Human Genetics, Child Psychiatry and Psychology, Speech Therapy, Audiology, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and NGOs involved with Childhood- onset disabilities.

Children are seen with a variety of conditions including Global developmental delay, Intellectual disability, Cerebral Palsy, Genetic conditions, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Speech and Language Disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Visual Impairment, Hearing Impairment, Learning Disabilities.
