PSYCHOLOGY II (PSYC2020)
Pre-requisite course: Psychology I (PSYC1009/1010)
This is a full year course covering the following areas: This course provides a critical grounding in core theories and research in human development, personality, cognition and social psychology. The Developmental Psychology section introduces selected theories in personality and developmental psychology. In the Personality section, aspects of both normal and abnormal personality and human development are considered from psychoanalytic, emotional and other perspectives. The Cognitive Psychology component explores theories of: attention, perception and memory; thought, language and knowledge representation; and problem solving and decision making. Core topics in Social Psychology will be explored by way of key theories and research on social thinking, social influence, intergroup relations and social identity, and also includes introduction to critical approaches – feminist, postcolonial and psychoanalytic social psychologies.

PSYCHOLOGICAL RESEARCH DESIGN AND ANALYSIS IIA (PSYC2005)
Pre-requisite course: Psychology I (PSYC1009/1010)
This module deals with aspects of conducting and analysing scientific research in psychology. A variety of research designs are introduced, issues such as their reliability and validity are considered, and different methods for the organisation and analysis of the data collected are explored. Also included is an introduction to probability theory, statistical tests and psychometrics.

PSYCHOLOGICAL RESEARCH DESIGN AND ANALYSIS IIA (PART-TIME - PSYC2012)
Pre-requisite course: Psychology I (PSYC1009/1010)

PSYCHOLOGICAL RESEARCH DESIGN AND ANALYSIS IIB (PSYC2006)
Pre-requisite course: Psychological Research Design and Analysis IIA (PSYC2005/2012) passed with a minimum of 60%
This module deals with topics in qualitative and quantitative psychological research at an advanced level. Multivariate research design and statistical analyses are introduced. Theoretical and practical aspects of psychological measurement and assessment are considered. Qualitative research methods and techniques for the analysis of such data, such as discourse analysis, are included.

HUMAN RESOURCES PSYCHOLOGY II (PSYC2019)
This is a closed service module only offered to students in the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment. In this course, we look at practical ways in which psychology can be used to improve the ways in which individuals and teams function. The purpose of the course is to assist the student in gaining insight into how they will function as a professional within a team environment and in providing them with skills that will assist them in managing work teams when they enter the world of work and they have to manage project teams. More specifically the course covers: An introduction to the field of organisational psychology; individual characteristics; attitudes and job satisfaction; basic motivation concepts; foundations of group behaviour and managing work teams; communication; conflict, negotiation, power and politics; work stress; organisational culture; theories of leadership and organisational structure

RESEARCH DESIGN AND ANALYSIS FOR THE HEALTH SCIENCES (PSYC 2009)
This module is offered to students in the Health Sciences Faculty only. The module is designed to develop basic competence in conceptualising human science research, designing simple research and applying basic techniques in measurement and analysis of research data.  The module consists of three components:  Research Design, Psychometrics and Research Analysis.

HEALTH PSYCHOLOGY FOR THE HEALTH SCIENCES (PSYC 2002)
This module is offered to students in the Health Sciences Faculty only. This module is concerned with the interrelatedness of biological, psychological, social and environmental factors in understanding the risk, prevention and treatment of health problems. The aim of this module is to develop an appreciation of the role of psychosocial factors in the prevention and treatment of illness, as well as the promotion and maintenance of health and well-being.
