Study with the Division of Languages, Literacies and Literatures
The Division of Languages, Literacies and Literatures is a community of experts committed to world class teaching, research and community engagement in language and literacy education. Being responsive to South Africa’s complex multicultural and multilingual context means that the Division is able to engage in cutting edge research, provide innovative and relevant instruction, as well as collaborate with educational communities and stakeholders at the local, national, and international levels. The Division’s primary objective, then, is to advance the study of language, literacy and literature learning and teaching in the contemporary world by fostering an environment where collegiality, efficiency and risk-taking are highly valued.
We offer programmes at the Honours and Masters level in both Applied Language and Literacy Education, as well as English Education.
Our PhD programme caters for doctoral students with a range of interests intersecting with language, literacy and literature at either local, national or international levels.
