Overview

There is great potential for Spanish speakers in Africa especially in the fields of tourism and hospitality, international relations, journalism, translation and interpreting and teaching.

New research related to the Africanization of the academic curriculum is encouraged and promoted at the department.

Masters is offered by dissertation only. Research topics are chosen in conjunction with the department and its areas of expertise.

• A bachelors degree with Honours from Wits or another university with a 65% total mark aggregate or equivalent.
• A supervisor from the department of Spanish and Latin American Studies must be identified and approached prior to application.

The department reserves the right to assess the applicant’s suitability to complete the degree. Research topics are chosen in conjunction with the supervisor and their areas of expertise.
