Property Development and Management in the field of Facilities Management
Facilities Management is designed to enable prospective students to obtain the academic preparation that would enable them to access facilities management careers. Facilities management is the coordination and harmonisation of various specialist disciplines to manage buildings and non-core services.
Overview
The Postgraduate Diploma is directed towards applicants with a three year bachelors degree, usually in a non-real estate discipline. Applicants with a BSc in Real Estate can also apply to study for the Postgraduate Diploma. The Postgraduate Diploma should enable applicants to study for an MSc by research.

Entry Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Property studies, Construction, Architecture, Business, Engineering, Social sciences, and other related fields;
- A B-Tech qualification with a minimum of three years work experience
- A National Diploma, substantial work experience and obtained 65% pass in short courses by Wits Enterprise in Building Services and Facilities management. This category of candidates will also attend an interview with the School of Construction Economics and Management before their application will be considered
- Differently qualified applicants with a Bachelors degree or equivalent will be shortlisted for an entrance test
- A person who in any other manner has satisfied the Senate that s/he is so qualified.
- International students: Students whose prior degrees were not awarded by a South African university must submit a South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) evaluation certificate (Note: this process can take up to three months to finalise).
University Application Process
- Applications are handled centrally by the Student Enrolment Centre (SEnC). Once your application is complete in terms of requested documentation, your application will be referred to the relevant School for assessment. - Applicants can monitor the progress of their applications via the Self Service Portal.
- Selections for programmes that have a limited intake but attract a large number of applications may only finalise the application at the end of the application cycle.
