Centre for Learning, Teaching and Development

The Centre for Learning, Teaching and Development (CLTD) supports the professional learning journeys of Wits academic staff by working collaboratively with departments and individuals at all career stages.

We offer:

  • Blended learning and teaching support
  • Academic professional learning programmes, and
  • Course evaluation services

Together with our academic partners we promote the importance of effective teaching for meaningful learning.

Curriculum and Teaching Working towards enhancing academics as university teachers, we promote curricula renewal, course (re)design and development, the enhancement of the scholarship of teaching and learning (SOTL), research and civic engagement.
Evaluation Services CLTD offers support to academic staff to conduct evaluations of their teaching and courses for the purposes of continuing professional learning, enhancement of learning and teaching practice as well as accountability.
Instructional Design Support Instructional design support at CLTD provides various opportunities for lecturers to design and develop engaging and interactive online, blended and face-to-face learning interactions.
Learning Experience Design Our work focuses on support for fully online degree programmes, and interventions aimed at strengthening support for online and blended learning.
Professional Learning Opportunities CLTD provides research-informed support in higher education learning and teaching. Our programmes and activities aim to enhance the quality of learning and teaching at Wits.
