Ziyaad Dangor is a paediatric pulmonologist at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital in Soweto. As a researcher, Ziyaad completed his doctoral thesis on the clinical and immunological epidemiology of Group B Streptococcal disease at the Respiratory and Meningeal Pathogens Research Unit. In addition, his research interests include childhood TB, sequelae of lung disease in young infants and point-of-care lung ultrasound. He has undertaken investigator-initiated, original research using a range of clinical, epidemiological and laboratory-based research techniques to establish a successful research output, including the publication of cited papers in high-impact factor journals in the field. In 2019, Ziyaad was rated as an Y1 scientists by the National Research Foundation (NRF). Ziyaad is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching at the University of Witwatersrand. He serves on the executive committee of the South African Paediatric Association, and is an examiner in the College of Paediatricians of South Africa. He is also an instructor with the Advanced Paediatric Life Support Group.
