Rhodes Scholars

For more than 100 years, the Rhodes Trust, through its Rhodes Scholarship, has sought out extraordinary individuals with different backgrounds and viewpoints from around the world. The scholarship aims to encourage debate and stimulate new ideas, leaving a positive impact for the generations to come.

The Rhodes Scholarship is the oldest international programme. Its focus is on “exceptional people who are impatient with the way things are and have the courage to act”.

On the 100th anniversary of this prestigious organisation in 2003, it joined hands with the Nelson Mandela Foundation, creating the Mandela Rhodes Scholarship. Through this partnership the Rhodes Trust has expanded its reach throughout the African continent.
