Songo Didiza
Songo is an entrepreneur and a green economy expert who founded the Green Building Design Group (GreenBDG) as a solution to create green investment potential in South Africa, using innovative and circular approaches.
Her industry experience spans across the energy, construction, financial services, manufacturing, government, NGO, property, oil & gas sectors in Sub-Saharan Africa.
She has been voted Sub-Saharan Africa’s Energy Innovator of the Year by the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) in 2019.
She is a trusted global advisor on the green economy and has advised on transactions exceeding USD 1 billion to fast track the green growth in Africa. She holds a Bachelor of Economic Science degree from Wits University.
She currently serves as an Executive Committee member of the Convocation of Wits University and is a part-time visiting university lecturerer in leading global institutions.
As part of exco term she plans to use her global networks to help position the university as a research leader and key role player within the green and circular economy. The networks can be used effectively to also advance the university's progress towards a digital age that is resource conscious.
