Bursary opportunities are offered by some external companies, municipalities and government departments to reward academic excellence or help undergraduate students in need of financial assistance.

Nedbank Recruitment Bursaries

NEDBANK EXTERNAL BURSARY PROGRAMME

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, you must meet the following requirements: 

  • Be a South African citizen with a proven financial need based on your household income.
  • Have a minimum academic average of 65% in the year you apply for the bursary. You will be notified of the outcome of your application once the recruitment and selection process is complete.
  • Have a minimum academic average of 65% in the subjects required for your intended qualification.
  • Not have completed Grade 12 or your senior certificate with mathematics literacy.
  • Have secured admission to study full-time at a South African public university or university of technology 

 

Other eligibility criteria include:

  • Only applications submitted online via the official link will be considered.
  • Incomplete applications will not be considered.
  • All complete applications will be screened and shortlisted in line with the qualifying criteria.

 

Important Note:

If you are shortlisted, we will ask you to:

  • Submit the relevant supporting documents for a financial assessment.
  • Complete psychometric and other assessments
  • Attend an interview

RECRUITMENT BURSARY

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for Amazon-funded tuition, accommodation, and additional academic costs, applicants must be South African citizens pursuing a degree in:

  • Computer Science
  • Computer Engineering
  • Software Engineering
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Machine Learning

Students must be entering their final undergraduate year in 2027 (3rd year of a 3-year degree or 4th year of a 4-year degree), planning to continue to Honours (NQF Level 8) in 2028 and expected to complete academic studies by the end of 2028.

Students must be available to commence full-time employment with Amazon in Jan 2029 if offered a permanent role.

Other eligibility criteria include:

  • Academic average of 65% or above
  • Demonstrated coding ability in a programming language such as Java, C, C#, C++, or Python
  • Strong interest in software development
  • Available for a paid summer internship (2027)

 

Important Note:

Successful interns will be assessed for potential conversion into a full-time Software Development Engineer (SDE) role with Amazon upon completion of their studies.

students who have completed their 1st year of studies

The bursary covers:

  • Full tuition
  • Full or part residence cost
  • Textbooks

 

Criteria:

  • Available to 2nd, 3rd and 4th year.
  • A 70% aggregate in 1st year (certified academic record required)
  • A South African citizen who is studying at a South African university
  • Open to full-time students only
  • Motivational letter
  • Proof of residence
  • Completed application form
