About us The Wits School of Geosciences is the largest and most diverse academic Earth Science institution in Africa, consistently ranking in the top 150 Earth Science departments globally! In many of our fields of study, Wits is the main (and in some cases, sole) centre of study in Africa and South Africa.

Geotalks Each week we host the Wits Geotalks Online - 30-45 min seminars focussing on the latest research from our scientists and students, visiting researchers and industry colleagues. These talks usually take place in G101, but are also now broadcast live and we attract an audience from around South Africa and the world. Sign up here.
