Renowned French economist, Thomas Piketty, will deliver the keynote address, followed by a panel discussion with, among others, WTO's Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

Hosted by the School of Economics and Finance (SEF) at Wits, this webinar is in celebration of Wits University's centenary this year.

The keynote address will be delivered by renowned French economist, Thomas Piketty, who will be discussing his new book A Brief History of Equality.

This will be followed by a panel discussion on Policy-making in a high-inequality context: A conversation with Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization.

Joining will be Trudi Makhaya (Economic advisor to President Cyril Ramaphosa), Dr Kenneth Creamer and Professor Liberty Mncube, both academics in the School of Economics and Finance and members of the Presidential Economic Advisory Council. Professor Dorrit Posel, also from SEF, will be moderating.
