Master of Science in Medicine in the field of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases is a research degree.

Overview


This full-time course, spanning 1 to 3 years, requires the student to design a research protocol, conduct laboratory experiments, and present the results in a dissertation for assessment.

Throughout the course, the student will deepen their understanding of a specific infectious disease while developing practical laboratory skills and research expertise.

The Department of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases is part of the Wits School of Pathology.

Entry Requirements


BSc honours must be completed with final results of ≥ 65% and have Microbiology as a subject at an undergraduate or honours level.

Students must approach a relevant supervisor to secure a topic and supervision before application.
