Tshepiso Maleswena is a Lecturer and Student Advisor in the Faculty of Commerce, Law, and Management of the University of the Witwatersrand. Her work is based on the various aspects of the faculty’s teaching and learning and her responsibilities include facilitating student success and support, student mentorship, and research of various learning and teaching methods. Prior to working at Wits University, Tshepiso has years of experience in the corporate sector in the field of marketing and communications, where she held various marketing roles in the Insurance, Risk, and Information Technology space. Tshepiso holds an undergraduate degree in communications, a Master’s degree in Political Science, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education Studies. She is currently reading for a PhD in History with a focus on memory and memorialisation within the context of South African history. Her research interests extend to students’ social experiences at tertiary institutions, decolonisation of the university curriculum, and nuanced approaches to course design and assessment practices. Outside of her work at Wits, Tshepiso is also a gender and social justice activist and frequently works with organisations such as Sonke Gender Justice and Soul City to raise awareness around issues of gender-based violence.

Academic Advisors

Siyasamkela Jinoyi | siyasamkela.jinoyi@wits.ac.za | Room 49, CLM Building

Siyasamkela Jinoyi is an Academic Advisor in the Faculty of Commerce, Law and Management at the University of the Witwatersrand. She holds a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology. Over the past four years, Siyasamkela has been working with student populations in various South African Higher Education institutions, and her aim is to positively impact students’ academic and professional development, helping them to become optimally functioning, well-rounded professionals beyond student life. Her areas of interest include personal development, teaching excellency and self-mastery skills.

Aneshree Nayager | Aneshree.Nayager@wits.ac.za | Room 52, CLM Building

Aneshree Nayager is an Academic Advisor in the Road to Success Programme (RSP), within the Faculty of Commerce, Law and Management at the University of the Witwatersrand. She holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, with a focus on Student Support and Academic Development Policy. She has a background in education, as well as in academic literacy development within a Writing Centre. Her current areas of interest include academic literacy development, student success in higher education as well as student support and academic development practices.

Mbongeni Shungube | Mbongeni.Shungube@wits.ac.za Room 50, CLM Building

Mbongeni Shungube is an Academic Advisor in the Faculty of Commerce, Law, and Management at the University of the Witwatersrand. He began his journey in the programme as a beneficiary, after which he became a tutor - which successively led to his current role. Mbongeni holds degrees in Bsc Microbiology (UFS),LLB(Wits) and is currently reading for his Masters in Bioethics and Health Law. He is interested in the idea of an equal world where every person truly has equal opportunities, and believes that his role in the programme will contribute to that vision.
