A SPATIAL DEVELOPMENT FRAMEWORK FOR YEOVILLE

Fourth year Planning students were requested to imagine a Spatial Development Framework for Yeoville - including an analysis of existing conditions, and on this basis as well as a planning intention, making suggestions for the future development of Yeoville in a way that integrates all sectors: housing, transport, public space, infrastructure, social amenities, economic activities, etc. The students worked on the idea of social inclusion and of diversity - the thread that guided their planning recommendations for the area. The framework was debated with Wits staff and Yeoville studio partner YBCDT.
