Botanical Collections

The botanical collections of the Life Sciences Museum, housed at the C.E. Moss Herbarium (J), consists of ca. 150.000 plant specimens mainly from the Gauteng Province grasslands, Inhaca Island, Oribi Gorge and the Buffelskloof Nature Reserve Herbarium (BNRH) collection. One third of our collection is currently databased and photographed, with future curatorial efforts focused on our backlog and taxonomic updates of our database and physical collection.

Main Collection

The main collection is housed in compactors in the plant and insect archive room.
