Oral Presentation
Presentation requirements
- Oral Presentations are 15 minutes long, including at least 3 minutes for questions.
- Presentations should be prepared in Microsoft Office PowerPoint
- Presentations should be named by the Session name (e.g. Ecology) and the surname of the presenter.
Presentation loading
- Speakers should have their FINAL presentation ready to be loaded ahead of their presentation session.
- Your talk will be loaded by one of the congress staff at the relevant venue prior to the start of your session:
- By 8.15 am on the morning of your talk – if presenting before Tea-time
- By 8.15 am OR by 10.30 am (latest) if in sessions after Tea-time or Lunch Time.
During your Session:When you are speaking in a session, you should arrive early, familiarise yourself with the AV setup and lighting and sit close to the podium. Please introduce yourself to the chairperson in your room prior to the beginning of the session and help them with the pronunciation of your name.

Poster Presentations
- Posters should be A1 size (59.4 x 84.1 cm) and MUST be in PORTRAIT (vertical) format to facilitate hanging.
- Posters are visual presentations of research; a poster should be a self-explanatory document.
- Be present at your poster during the Poster Viewing Session so that you can discuss it with interested viewers.
Suggested poster content
- Title of the poster
- Full names and affiliations of all authors, including e-mail address of at least one author
- Introduction: a few brief sentences that state the purpose of the study
- Methods: a list or flow chart
- Results: Illustrations, tables, figures, graphs, and photos accompanied by a simple statement
- Discussion: a list or summary paragraph of conclusions
- References: If you feel references are essential, include no more than two or three.
Illustrations
- Ideally, illustrations (photos, figures, tables & graphs) should dominate your poster.
- Use high quality illustrations of sufficient resolution. Captions and labels on visuals should be readable from a distance of 1.5 m.
- Graphs and figures should be simple – avoid unnecessary detail.
- Graphs are preferred over tables.
- Choose a readable, sufficiently large font for the text.
