Wits Netball makes a Big Return!

-

The Wits Netball team is back with a bang, bagging 2 wins in just as many games in the new Varsity Netball campaign.

The team has held their own and is making strides to have a successful season this year. Team captain Giada Prinsloo, shared her thoughts on the season, her team's preparation and the year ahead.
Going into this season, Prinsloo and her team are looking forward to matching, and even exceeding last season's fifth place finish. “Our goal is to carry on from where we left off last season and see ourselves in a semi final,” she said. This goal is already in motion, with the team finishing both of their first games with a victory.

Their face offs against the Madibaz and CUT saw them bank some points and boost their standings this season. These results are proof of a preparation campaign that has strengthened the team and their performances. “We have done lots of work on and off the court. We’ve been in the gym, done our conditioning and played in significant tournaments throughout the year where each player has gained valuable experience and fine tuned different skills that they can inject into our camp . We have
also continued with building connections and culture within our team setup. The morale is good and the girls are ready,” Prinsloo shared. Prinsloo and her team are dedicated to furthering these performances and showcasing all of the hard work they've put into this season. She acknowledged the great start to their campaign, and stated that the challenge would be to maintain these results to push the team over the line and reach their goals.

Maintaining this momentum is paramount, and every team mate is required to put their everything into getting the results they want. “I think at this level every game is a challenge of its own. Each player in the team has a responsibility to show up consistently and give their best,” she said. With more fixtures coming up and the excitement palpable, the team is ready for everything, especially their home fixtures. The support from the Wits community has made these a sight to see, and a moment to savor and the team is ensuring that they do that. Prinsloo shared that her commitment to the team and to the Wits community is to be whatever the team needs. “Whether that’s leading from the front, supporting or bringing energy when the team needs a lift,” she said.
