Business executive, Rumbi Munyaradzi, has help to thrive in an ever-changing world.

Rumbidzayi Munyaradzi has self-published 'Your Guide to Adulting’ as a much-needed mentorship tool for young people or adults desiring to make the best possible life and career choices. In 2020 Rumbi Munyaradzi (BCom 2008) wondered about her future and wondered how it would materialise without a coherent strategy. With 16 years of global industry experience as an investment banker, she quit her job and took a sabbatical to complete a master’s in digital transformation and innovation. So began her career in coaching, which brought clarity and a renewed sense of purpose.

Munyaradzi has recently published a new book titled Your Guide to Adulting, which draws on that period in her life and provides the mental models required to become a well-rounded adult. The book is a unique mentorship tool for young people or adults desiring to make the best possible life and career choices and derive value from the opportunities they are given. She is currently based in Johannesburg and works as chief operating officer of the Sasai Super App.

She has drawn from her experience of talking to and working with young people across Africa and outlines key challenges that many young people face.

“Young Africans experience a significant mentorship gap concerning their academic choices, workplace preparation and financial education. Diverse career paths and identifying transferrable skills are not well understood to pivot with industry trends.Adulting by Rumbidzayi Munyaradzi

“While industry is solving for technical skills and job opportunities, the issues affecting young people’s mental health, resilience, adaptability, financial discipline and lifestyle choices do not receive adequate attention.

“The challenges young people are vulnerable to include imposter syndrome and difficulty speaking up as they navigate different social strata, depression, anxiety, addiction, consumer debt, unhealthy lifestyles, an inability to retain a job or expand their career prospects and healing from trauma given the prevalence of crime and gender-based violence,” she says.

The book is in a visually appealing format that is easy to read yet detailed enough to teach important principles.
