The Australian webinar series will be held on the second Thursday each month, at Eastern Australian time 7.30-8.30 pm and at SAT 10.30 - 11.30am.

We are delighted to start the 2022 series of webinars. Wits is carving out new spaces in science, technology, and social innovation. We begin a series of webinars by exploring the vision of those at the centre of the Wits Innovation Hub.

SPEAKERS:

Barry Dwolatzky helped establish the Tshimologong Precinct, where Wits academics and students are co-located with IBM Africa, working on diverse projects centred on digital innovation. He leads the development of the Wits Innovation Hub.

Letlotlo Phohole has been seconded from the Wits-Transnet Centre for Systems Engineering to help set up the Wits Innovation Centre. While working in government, he drove the establishment of a national “FabLab” network which is an open, creative community of artists, scientists, engineers, educators on the continent.

The moderator is Christo Doherty, who was the founding director of the Faku’gesi Festival.
