DESCRIPTION:The Australian webinar series will be held on the second Thursday each month, at Eastern Australian time 7.30-8.30 pm and at SAT 10.30 - 11.30am.We are delighted to start the 2022 series of webinars. Wits is carving out new spaces in science, technology, and social innovation. We begin a series of webinars by exploring the vision of those at the centre of the Wits Innovation Hub.
<br />SPEAKERS:
<br />Barry Dwolatzky helped establish the Tshimologong Precinct, where Wits academics and students are co-located with IBM Africa, working on diverse projects centred on digital innovation. He leads the development of the Wits Innovation Hub.
<br />Letlotlo Phohole has been seconded from the Wits-Transnet Centre for Systems Engineering to help set up the Wits Innovation Centre. While working in government, he drove the establishment of a national “FabLab” network which is an open, creative community of artists, scientists, engineers, educators on the continent.
<br />The moderator is Christo Doherty,&nbsp;who was the founding director of the Faku’gesi Festival.
