Orienteering combines walking or running, with the skill of navigation. A map and compass are used to find checkpoints in a variety of different terrains including forests, bushveld, parks and schools.
The club has weekly training on campus. These training sessions include fun activities to improve map-reading skills as well as fitness and strength. Orienteering caters for all levels of fitness. On weekends we attend local events hosted by the other Gauteng Clubs. The urban series in the first half of the year consists of short, fast races, with longer events in more scenic parts of Gauteng taking place in the 2nd half of the year. The club attends Gauteng Champs, SA Champs and the Big-5 Orienteering Week which takes place every second year.
The club also has a number national representatives. This year Dylan Barry attended Junior World Orienteering Champs in Norway!
