Economics

The Wits Economics Division is a vibrant community of faculty and students, with research published in a range of  journals including Economic Development and Cultural Change, Economics Letters, and Journal of Banking and Finance. Faculty members have held leadership roles in organisations such as the Economic Society of South Africa and the Legatum Institute. Teaching spans critical areas such as microeconomics, macroeconomics, data analysis, development economics, and public economics, preparing students to tackle real-world economic challenges.
