Proudly South African has appointed Leslie Sedibe as CEO. He takes over from Herbert Mkhize, the executive director of the National Economic Development and Labour Council (Nedlac), who has been acting CEO for two years.

Sedibe is a businessman who has BA, LLB and LLM (tax) degrees from the University of the Witwatersrand. Before his tumultuous time as CEO of the South African Football Association, Sedibe was head of legal affairs of the 2010 World Cup organising committee. In 2009, he was appointed a director of the interim board of directors of the SABC and in 2010 was appointed a director of the World Cup organising committee.

Dali Mpofu, chairman of the Proudly South African marketing organisation, said: "It took us a long time to find the right candidate as we were looking for a candidate with the right mix of academic qualifications, the right character and a good dose of patriotism and Leslie has all of that."
