Seeking Assistance with Your Biostatistics
The Health Sciences Research Office (HSRO) provides Biostatistical support free of charge to:
- Postgraduate students (including Honours, MMeds/MDents, MSc, PhD)
- Postdoctoral research fellows
- Staff/Researchers
- Undergraduate students
The HSRO provides expert biostatistical consulting to support research excellence across the Faculty of Health Sciences. Our services are designed to assist researchers, postgraduate students, and academic staff throughout their research, including:

Protocol Development
Guidance on statistical components such as sample size calculations, randomisation/sampling strategies, and crafting a robust Statistical Analysis Plan (SAP).
- Protocol Review Support
Assistance in addressing feedback from protocol assessors and refining statistical sections accordingly.

Advice on designing effective data collection tools and implementing sound data management practices.

Data Analysis & Interpretation
Support ranging from basic descriptive statistics to advanced analytical techniques for clinical trials, epidemiological studies, and other research designs.

Help with preparing statistical content for research reports, theses, dissertations, and manuscripts intended for publication.

Statistical guidance for supervisors overseeing student research projects, and support for postgraduate students responding to examiner feedback.

Biostatistical consultations take place at the following locations:

The mode of interaction for consultations is Face-to Face or Online (via MS Teams/Zoom/Whatsapp)
