The Political Economy of Social Ownership in South Africa.
In this webinar, we will be launching a recently published paper titled: The Political Economy of Social Ownership in South Africa: Opportunities to Address Inequality in Transition. Commissioned by Agence Française de Développement and in collaboration with the Presidential Climate Commission, this paper contributes to the growing discourse on social ownership in South Africa. Drawing on the social ownership literature, expert interviews, and case studies of different social ownership models across various sectors, the research provides a definition of social ownership, highlights key features of successful social ownership models, and unpacks the ways in which they contribute to reducing inequality.
