The discussion will explore the opportunities that anthropology presents beyond the university.

This roundtable brings together graduates from our department who have built careers across a wide range of sectors, including government, civil society, media, arts and corporate. The discussion will explore the opportunities that anthropology presents beyond the university and how anthropological ways of thinking shape professional practice, public engagement, and social change.

The roundtable invites alumni to reflect on their different trajectories, the challenges they have encountered, and the role of anthropological perspectives and approaches. It is for current students to engage directly with our graduates about possible career pathways beyond academia.

Invited Speakers:

  • Thandolwethu Thwala
  • Naledi Mtshweni
  • Eric Gary Itzkin
  • Dr Sisanda Msekele
