You are invited to join WAM for the opening of Veronique Hoog's exhibition 'The Vanilla Sisters Lunch Club: Our Portraits our Stories'.

The exhibition will be opened by art historian and portrait artist Cyril Coetzee. This will be followed by remarks from Molebo Lekwane and Terry-Ann Adams, members of The Vanilla Sisters Lunch Club, with sign language interpretation by fellow member Mampo Sethokgwa.

Join us again on Saturday 19 September 2026 at 12:00 for a walkabout led by the artist.

The Vanilla Sisters Lunch Club: Our Portraits our Stories invites us to better understand one another. The portraits of women living with albinism are large and bold and the stories speak of resilience, as well as goals and achievements attained with courage and determination while navigating a world that often misunderstands difference. The stories are accessible using QR codes and website on the virtual exhibition on veroniquehoog.com available from 16 September 2026.

This exhibition is both a celebration and an act of advocacy. Through these portraits and stories, Hoog seeks to foster greater awareness and empathy, and to promote inclusion in society. The works invite us to move beyond assumptions, to listen, and to recognise our shared humanity.

Free parking for the opening is available in the garage beneath the museum.

Museum hours: Tuesday - Saturday, 10:00 - 16:00

Entrance is free and all are welcome
