Curators David Paton and Ciara Struwig will offer a deeper understanding of the exhibition, sharing insightful explorations of its themes and artworks.
Weird, Wonderful, Quirky and Peculiar centres on Salvador Dalí’s 1973 Dix Recettes d'Immortalité (Ten Recipes for Immortality), a landmark in his graphic work that offers a window into his surreal and philosophical universe. In response, the curators present a selection of artists books that reflect similarly unusual, humorous, and personal takes on the world.
Visitors will encounter asemic writing, cryptic symbols, and unconventional book forms exploring meaning through visual oddity and material play. From cartographic dreams to pigeon-photographed landscapes, the exhibition invites you to experience the strange and wonderful through the way artists play with the form and function of the book to reveal strange and personal views of the world.
