Africa Day with Prof. Thuli Madonsela and Dr Alice Mogwe

Africa Day is a day of reflection on the journey of the African continent towards unity, freedom, and development.

As we mark Africa Day 2025, the continent stands at a critical juncture: facing both enduring challenges and unprecedented opportunities for growth and transformation. The African Union’s theme for 2025 is Justice for Africans and People of African Descent and South Africa, as the host of the G20 Summit, is pursuing the theme of fostering solidarity, equality and sustainable development.

These themes have informed our chosen theme: Justice, Solidarity, Sustainability for Africa: Pathways of Hope and Regeneration for one Africa which seeks to amplify the voices of African citizens and communities striving for inclusive development, accountable governance, and the realisation of Pan-African ideals.

Please join us for an afternoon of thought-provoking discussion, music, and celebration as we consider the next steps towards creating a better Africa for the future, guided by the principles of solidarity and justice.

Keynote Speakers:

We are thrilled to be joined by Professor Thuli Madonsela, director of the Centre for Social Justice (CSJ) at the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa’s former Public Protector, and a globally recognised human rights activist; and Dr Alice Mogwe, director of the Botswana Centre for Human Rights and president of the International Federation of Human Rights (FIDH).
