Come to Origins Centre on Thursday 14 November from 17:00 for the opening of Ann Gollifer’s exhibition 'Hold me said the Earth'.
Hold me said the Earth’ invites us to consider the ways in which our identities are shaped by history, geography, and personal experience. Ann Gollfer’s work is deeply personal and she uses her personal history, and the exploration of her multi-racial and multi-national heritage as subject and medium. One of the key elements in Ann’s work is her use of pigments derived from earth colours found in Botswana, which she transforms into something more than just colour – but vessels of history, culture, and identity. “Her art is a call to reflection, urging us to consider our own personal mythologies and how they intersect with the larger narratives of race, gender, and nationality” - Khumo Sebambo. Exhibition curated by Kim Karabo Makin. The opening event is free. Enquiries and RSVP for the opening: Dimakatso@gunsandrain.com; Tammy.Hodgskiss@wits.ac.za.
