Esther Mahlangu Exhibition – Family Walkabout

The Wits Art Museum is thrilled to host the work of South Africa’s cultural icon Esther Mahlangu.

Join WAM on Saturday 23 November at 12:00 for the curator-led walkabout of the magnificent new exhibition “Then I Knew I was Good at Painting”: Esther Mahlangu, A Retrospective.The exhibition of work by celebrated and iconic South African contemporary artist Esther Mahlangu features over 100 artworks loaned from multiple collections, including her BMW Art Car, beadwork, painted mannequins and a TV. The strong research focus by curator Ntombela encourages viewers not only to marvel at the splendour of colour and pattern, but also to take the time to immerse themselves in the artist’s long history of seven decades of focused artistic practice. Entrance is free and all are welcome The exhibition will run from 20 November 2024 - 17 April 2025. Museum hours: Tuesday - Saturday, 10:00 - 16:00.
