Exhibition of original dinosaur fossils and talk by Dr Kimi Chapelle
Original dinosaur fossils will be on display for one day only as part of the Centenary Objects exhibition. These Massospondylus carinatus eggs, and the embryos they contain, are some of the oldest dinosaur eggs in the world, dating to ~200 million years ago, the Early Jurassic period.
Join the vertebrate palaeontologist, Dr Kimi Chapelle at 10:00 as she talks about the new technologies and methods used to study these delicate babies and shed light on Massospondylus embryonic development, growth strategies, locomotion, parental care, nesting behaviours and eggshell structure. Tickets: R85 (adults), R65 (Wits staff/pensioners), R40 (Wits students/children). Available on web tickets (lecture and viewing or viewing after 11am). Enquiries: tammy.hodgskiss@wits.ac.za.
