The 3rd International Workshop in Nanocarbon

Organized by the Nano-Scale Transport Physics Laboratory, the School of Physics and the DST-NRF Centre of Excellence in Strong Materials

Date: January 14-15, 2016

Venue: Senate Room, 2nd Floor Senate House, East Campus, University of the Witwatersrand

Main Topics:

Invited Speakers:

Graphene and Nanocarbon

Prof Andrea Ferrari, University of Cambridge, UK

Nanotubes and Graphene

Prof. Klauss Ensslin, ETH Zurich, Switzerland

High speed Electronics

Prof. Deji Akinwande, University of Texas at Austin, USA

Diamond-Graphene

Prof. David Tomanek, Michigan State University, USA

Quantum Electronics

Prof. Thomas Ihn, ETH Zurich, Switzerland

Carbon Nanotubes

Prof. Emmanuel Flahaut, Universite Paul Sabatier, France

Following on the very successful 1st and 2nd International Workshops on NanoCarbon, the 3rd workshop will focus on properties of carbon structures for a range of applications. This includes electronic properties of graphene, nanotubes, nanodiamond films, carbon heterostructures and applications in energy generation and storage, carbon-based sensors, synthesis of novel carbon structures and catalysts based on carbon materials. This workshop will bring together several world experts with local experts in related fields in order to investigate the crossroads of nano-diamond and nano carbon and the benefits this synergy can bring.
