Guest and Conference Accommodation

We offer a range of comfortable, affordable stays in the heart of Johannesburg, whether you’re here for a conference, short-term research visit, or academic appointment.

Conference & Group Accommodation

Our residence facilities are available to conference groups, university partners, and event delegates during vacation periods (June/July, December, and January). Located on both the Braamfontein and Parktown campuses, they offer easy access to university venues and city attractions.

What we offer:

  • Flexible single and double rooms in secure residence buildings ideal for groups, conferences, and retreats.
  • Full-service catering available on request, with menus tailored to your group’s needs.
  • Conference, meeting, and function rooms for up to 1 000 participants.
  • Facilities include TV lounges (DSTV), laundry access, computer labs, and vending machines.
  • On-campus leisure spaces: swimming pool, squash/tennis courts, and sports fields perfect for team building.
  • Close to restaurants, cafés, banks, and public transport, including the Wits bus network.

Guest & Academic Accommodation

For new staff, postdoctoral fellows, and visiting academics, Wits offers furnished short and medium-term accommodation from one week to two years.

What we offer:

  • Fully furnished suites and apartments with Wi-Fi, DSTV, bedding, towels, and communal laundry access.
  • Utilities and weekly cleaning included; selected units include telephone services.
  • Self-catering kitchens in most units; meal options available in nearby dining halls.
  • Conveniently located across Braamfontein and Parktown campuses for quick access to faculties and research hubs.
  • Ideal for temporary stays while relocating or seeking permanent housing.
  • International guests are required to submit certified passport and visa copies before arrival.
