Our aim at Wits Film and Television is to expose students to all aspects of the filmmaking process. From concept development to scriptwriting, filming and editing, our expert staff supervise intensive learning in purpose-built facilities.
The practical aspects of filmmaking are complemented by the theoretical study of film history and the multiplicity of critical viewpoints contained in film and television studies.
Located within the Wits School of Arts, Film & Television students are able to collaborate with their peers in related disciplines of drama, music, fine arts and digital media. Here students also have the opportunity to draw on the vast scholarly and creative networks available at Wits University.
The Division offers the four-year undergraduate BAFT degree in Film and Television, a Postgraduate Diploma in Arts, an Honours degree and Masters degrees by Research and by Coursework. In addition, we offer a PhD in Film and Television.
