Alumni who are interested in keeping up with higher education issues can explore The Academic Citizen, an independent podcast started in April by Mehita Iqani (BA 2000, BA Hons 2001) and Balungile Mbenyane (BA 2013, BA Hons 2014). Both work in Media Studies at Wits.
They say podcasts – collections of audio recordings which are made available via the Internet – are an “easy-to-access, affordable mode of creating new spaces for discussion and debate”. You can listen to podcasts on a computer, tablet or smartphone.
The Academic Citizen provides a weekly interview with a guest on a topic relevant to higher education.
