Key Messages of the Recent IPCC Report on Climate Change Mitigation: Relevance for the Global South – A presentation by Professor Ramón Pichs Madruga.

Common messages from the IPCC Sixth Assessment Cycle reports (three special reports and contributions from the three Working Groups) refer to the urgent need for action on climate change; the importance of responses that are immediate and equitable; the risk that climate change poses for compliance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); and the growing costs and risks associated with the delay or delay of response actions in the face of this global challenge.

The contribution of the IPCC Working III (Mitigation) to the Sixth Assessment Report of this institution (approved on April 2022) highlights that the possibility of limiting global warming to 1.5ºC would be out of reach, unless there are immediate and significant reductions in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
