Presentation by Hatsue Koizumi from the Minamata Disease Center Soshisha, Kumamoto, Japan

The Archives Hub, a project of the Wits History Workshop, the Historical Papers Research Archive and the South African History Archive (SAHA), is holding an online seminar titled Archival Activism for Environmental Justice, in collaboration with the Research Center for Cooperative Civil Societies, Rikkyo University, Japan.

The online event will have English and Japanese simultaneous interpretation.

Focusing on the topic and environmental justice, archivists, historians and activists will talk about their efforts to collect, preserve, provide access to, and promote use of the records of grassroots movements relating to environment and social justice. A case study about the Minamata Disaster and Disease will be presented by Hatsue Koizumi from the Minamata Disease Center Soshisha, Kumamoto, Japan.
