Entry Requirements


MEd by Coursework and Research Report:

  • An Honours degree with an average of at least 65%, with a language specialisation (this does not need to be in Education, but experience in the field would be an added advantage).

MEd by Dissertation:

  • An Honours degree with an average of 70% with a language specialisation.

*Applicants who do not meet the minimum marks required, but have experience in language education, should enquire about special admissions procedures.

NB: The last day to register for application on the Wits system is 30 October. Once you have created a profile, however, you will have until December to upload relevant documents.

Course Application Process


For an MEd by coursework, you need to register for both of the following courses:
  • EDUC7031A Research Report
  • EDUC7030A Research Design 
 
In addition, you will select three of the following courses:
  • EDUC7115A Paradigms and Methods in Applied Studies 
  • EDUC7119A Critical Literacy, New Literacy Studies and Multi-literacies 
  • EDUC7122A Language and Assessment (advanced)
  • EDUC7123A Language Policy and Planning
