Aims and Objectives

The aims and objectives of the MISGSA are to

  • Generate greater awareness in South African industry and business to the problem solving power of mathematics

  • Promote the transfer of mathematical modelling and problem solving to industry and business

  • Establish better links between industry and academic mathematics

  • Establish new research collaborations between industry representatives, mathematicians in South Africa and overseas invited guests.

  • Provide improved university education of mathematicians through
    • expanded employment prospects for graduates in the mathematical sciences
    • new research problems for mathematicians
    • innovative material for teaching
